The Firm

         The Shafer Law Office was founded in 1991 in Williamsburg, Iowa by William K. Shafer. The focus in 1991 was to provide specialized financial insolvency representation to farmers and other agribusinesses both in Federal Bankrupty Court and Iowa District Court and in negotiated settlements. Representation was also provided to clients with insolvency issues before the Internal Revenue Service and the Iowa Department of Revenue.
        While these areas still remain a core practice of Shafer Law Office, the law practice has also adopted to the needs of clients. Because of the need for specialized agricultural knowledge as well as legal training, Shafer Law Office is now involved with many clients with issues involving real estate, tax and probate.
